Tarufai Island

Here is where you can meet the residents of Tarufai Island without having to go there yourself!

Follow my neocities if you so choose: Tarufai

And just for fun, here's my husband's neocities: PingyFunFun

Mii profiles are down below.

Click on a Mii's name to see their profile. Each Mii on the island is a Mii on my Switch system, so I will present the residents in the same order as they appear on my Switch. This order will not reflect the actual order of importance for each Mii.

Tiwa

Tiwa is the number one mii, so this is going to be the lenghtiest entry for any of the residents. He's gone through a looooong series of versions, starting as Taruru from Sgt. Frog aka Keroro Gunsou. I roleplayed as him on deviantart.com from the ages of 12 to 17.

Yes, one of the minor minor background side characters from the frog anime.

Here is the ID I made for the roleplaying group. I'm including this screenshot because I feel like it really encapsulates how long ago this was. (Again, this was 2009. I was 12. And unfortunately I don't know whose body image I used...)

Nonetheless, I loved him with all my heart. He was the perfect vessel for me to develop my art... and also to explore some things with gender, if we're being perfectly honest. Being able to spend my teenage years pretending to be a young man might have done something for me. Who's to say! Either way, I had a lot of fun roleplaying as Taruru during those years.

The following are a small sampling of drawings I did of him during that time period.

I soon commandeered him as my go-to character (he is where the "Taru" comes from in Tarufai), and when I got my first 3DS back in 2012, I made Taruru my main mii for Street Pass Mii Plaza. But they didn't have blue hair as an option for miis at the time, so I went with gray.

A few years layer, one of my all time favorite games was released: Miitopia. Taruru was of course my main hero for that game.

You may notice a name change. Around this time, myself and one other person from the RP group days had been talking about repurposing our Sgt Frog characters into original ones. Taruru was given the name Tiwa.

My friend played Kagege, who was also repurposed into the original character named Kauvl. Kagege and Taruru were extremely close in the roleplaying game, which is probably why Kagege's handler is the only person from that (pretty big) RP group that I am still in contact with. Kauvl is Tiwa's best friend on this miitopia file. More on Kauvl later...

Since Tiwa now had a new name, he was completely and totally my own. So I have drawn him many many times over the past few years. The following are even more pictures of Tiwa (once Taruru). I don't actually remember when most of these were drawing, so these aren't in chronological order--but I did my best approximation. He is my top OC that I don't actually do anything with other than use him in video games. And draw. (To be honest I do have a story in mind for him and it includes three of the other repurposed Keroro characters, but I haven't done anything other than vignette comics and drawings. So Tiwa's story is still kind of nebulous.)

This was one of the first drawngs I did of Tiwa, circa 2016. I ended up softening his features a lot after this.

One of his more interesting character features is this big scar on his right shoulder. Without getting too much into it, in his original story he has like... super powers basically. And they went haywire once and he can't safely use his powers anymore. Not long after he meets Kauvl (and Gier and Zoru, but again, we'll get to those guys later).

Here I drew him in one of the miitopia Imp class outfits. I think he's wearing a big hat because he would have stolen it from Kauvl, who was originally a Mage class.

Here is the imp outfit.

Quick side note, but I played this game file to death. The only reason Tiwa isn't a higher level in the above screenshots is because I was having him switch between every class. I was doing that with all of the miis on that file. So most of them don't have classes higher level than 30, but that just means they're between levels 25-30 for multiple miitopia classes. So here's a screenshot to show that I maxxed out how many defeated monsters the game would keep track of. And I want to say... that I have half a dozen more save files on the DS, and then about 8 different miitopia save files on the Switch. Most of my miitopia files are post-game. Sorry to distract from Tiwa, but I just wanted to make sure it was clear that he wasn't higher level because I haven't played the game enough or something. And in fact, basically every single mii on my Tarufai Tomodachi Island is originally a mii from a miitopia game. And Tarufai Island is full. So I have played a lot of miitopia.

Anyway, back to Tiwa.

This drawing is very much what his Tomodachi personality is like.

Also to be honest and real and true, I have drawn him beat up a lot.

Anyway, Tiwa was given a new life and a new name and I could play with him to my heart's content and make him all my own. And even all these many years later, he is still my first pick when it comes time to draw or play a game that uses miis.

So here is Tiwa, the first and most important resident of Tarufai Island.

Married to Zoru.

The leader of the original Tiwa Miitopia team.

Tiwa is also #5 in Tii's Miitopia team.

Nino

This is Nino!

Okay, so the reason Nino is second on this list (when it realistically should be Kauvl or Gier or Zoru) is because, again, I am presenting these Miis in the order that they are listed in my Nintendo Switch system. And Nino was the very first mii after Tiwa on my switch because Nino was created for the sole purpose of being a Mii Fighter in Super Smash Bros Ultimate.

Nino was the first of 10 miis designed specifically to fight in SSB Ultimate. His purpose was to be a Brawler. Conveniently, since there were 10 of them, I did also make a Miitopia file exclusively for the miis designed to be Mii Fighters. This team of SSB Mii Fighters were lead by Konin. More about him later.

Nino's original Miitopia class is as a Cat. Again, I say original because I play my miitopia games by having all of the miis cycle through a minimum of four classes. (My original Tiwa miitopia file was much more ambitious, and the miis were not limited to only 4 classes each. In subsequent game files, so as not to overwhelm myself too much, I have the miis focus on the four classes that suit them the most personality-wise.) On this miitopia file, my younger sister designed all of the miis' wigs and makeup to make them look nicer.

For some Nino lore relevant to Tarufai Island...

Nino and Asha were some of the first miis to get married. They have since gotten divorced and Nino is currently single.

They had even had a daughter together. Her name was Ashino. Here she's pictured holding the cover of Hail the Sun's single "Secondary Worship".

(All children born on Tarufai Island are "moved" to a different Tomodachi Island I have on another switch account.)

So here is Nino, resident of Tarufai Island.

Nino is #3 in Konin's Miitopia team.

Asha

This is Asha.

Asha is the only non-binary mii who uses they/them pronouns on Tarufai Island (there are some he/him nonbinaries). Like Nino, Asha was originally designed to be a Mii Fighter for Super Smash Bros Ultimate.

They were designed to be a Mii Swordfighter.

In the Miitopia team lead by Konin, Asha was originally a mage. On this miitopia file, my younger sister designed all of the miis' wigs and makeup to make them look nicer.

For some Asha lore relevant to Tarufai Island...

Asha and Nino were some of the first miis to get married. They have since gotten divorced. Asha and Kagura are now a couple.

To be perfectly honest, what happened was I started Tarufai Island and was letting miis get together willy-nilly (if they weren't a "main character" mii, of which there are about 8), but then I realized, "Wait a second... On the miitopia files, there are some miis who weren't the main character who I've still been imagining is very close to one other specific mii."

Asha was one of those lucky duckies. On their Miitopia team with Konin, I always had a feeling that Asha was particularly close to Kagura. Unfortunately, by the time I realized I wanted that to be reflected on Tarufai Island, Nino and Asha had already gotten married. So I admittedly spent quite a long time neglecting their relationship in the hopes that one of them would ask for a divorce, and Nino eventually did. Nino got the short end of the stick in the situation. And now I'm still working hard to get Asha and Kagura married to each other... We're getting there! They at least have mutual crushes on each other as of writing this.

So here is Asha, resident of Tarufai Island.

Asha will be married to Kagura, who was their closest companion on the Miitopia file.

Asha is #4 in Konin's Miitopia team.

Kagura

This is Kagura.

Kagura is one of the 10 miis who were originally designed to be a Mii Fighter for Super Smash Bros Ultimate.

She was designed to be a Mii Brawler.

In the Miitopia team lead by Konin, Kagura was originally a thief. On this miitopia file, my younger sister designed all of the miis' wigs and makeup to make them look nicer.

As far as Kagura's personality is considered, I think of her as a hot-headed and energetic and boisterous girl obsessed with fighting. I would say that she is somewhat inspired by two of her namesakes;

Kagura from Azumanga Daioh

and Kagura from Fruits Basket.

Some of Tomo from Azumanga Daioh is also thrown in there. But I'd say that my Kagura has her own unique flavors of ambition and energy.

So here is Kagura, resident of Tarufai Island.

Will be married to Asha, who was her closest companion on the Miitopia file.

Kagura is #5 in Konin's Miitopia team.

Konin

This is Konin.

Konin is one of the 10 miis who was originally designed to be a Mii Fighter for Super Smash Bros Ultimate. Well, I say he was designed for SSB, but it's more like he was outfitted to be a Mii Fighter.

He was a Mii Gunner, but he certainly wasn't originally intended to be a Mii.

Konin is one of those original characters that has a vague story in my head, but so far he has only manifested as a few drawings (and, like Tiwa, has been lucky enough to also become a mii).

The following are some drawings of Konin from the past few years.

His story, more or less, takes place in a cyberpunk/neotokyo setting. The idea is that he would have been a racer (think of the "Running Man" short film found in the Neo Tokyo collection from 1987), and Konin would have been a really good racer. But at some point during a race he got into a big accident/crash/wreck, and his injuries basically made him unable to race again. So now he's got cybernetics throughout his body, and as a change of career, he became a mechanic instead. I have a vague notion of something happening to his neck in the accident that leaves him unable to speak anymore--at least not without cybernetic enhancements. Hence those weird markings and lines on his neck in the drawings. I tried to carry this over onto the Tarufai Island as well, by giving Konin a kind of "robotic" sounding voice.

Konin was also, like the other SSB Mii Fighters, reused for a Miitopia file.

Konin is the leader of this miitopia team. On this miitopia file, my younger sister designed all of the miis' wigs and makeup to make them look nicer. And to keep in line with his back story, his main Miitopia class is as a Tank--I figured it was a nice in-between of his canon role as a mechanic and his mii role as a gunner. For all of my Miitopia team leaders, I also have them become a romantic item with their number two in their miitopia team. For Konin, his next in command is Tolya.

So here is Konin, resident of Tarufai Island.

Married to Tolya.

Konin is the leader of his Miitopia team.

Konin is also #8 in Tii's Miitopia team.

Tolya

This is Tolya.

Tolya is one of the 10 miis who was originally designed to be a Mii Fighter for Super Smash Bros Ultimate.

He is/was a Mii Gunner.

And, like the other Mii Fighters, he was put into Miitopia as part of Konin's team. On this miitopia file, my younger sister designed all of the miis' wigs and makeup to make them look nicer. He was a Cleric/Mage in miitopia, and I've carried that trait of being magically adept into Tomodachi. (Kind of. I give him staffs and stuff.)

But Tolya is arguably the most special mii in Konin's miitopia team! For those unfamiliar, the second mii added to the miitopia team (so like the mii that gets added right after the main one) usually ends up being the one that is closest to the main character mii. So, when I decided to make a miitopia team comprised of the SSB Mii Fighters, Konin was the obvious choice for the main character/team leader by virtue of the fact that he was an original character of mine outside of video games. (And Konin has actuals drawings done of him, as can be seen in Konin's profile above.)

My next question, then, was which of the Mii Fighters were going to be Konin's second-in-command. Tolya was ultimately the one chosen to be Konin's partner.

I see Tolya as stoic but fair, like... silently caring and attentive. And reliable! I think he pairs well with Konin's personality of coy, observant, and overall kind.

I have enjoyed their dynamic a lot in both Miitopia and Tomodachi Life, and so I will probably find a way to add Tolya to Konin's original cyberpunk/neotokyo story.

So here is Tolya, resident of Tarufai Island.

Married to Konin.

Tolya is #2 in Konin's Miitopia team.

Lou

This is Lou.

Lou is one of the 10 miis who was originally designed to be a Mii Fighter for Super Smash Bros Ultimate.

He was made to be a Mii Gunner. Lou, interestingly, was designed specifically for the Mii Gunner briefcase and Mii Gunner suit combo. I think my "inspiration" or whatever had been to make him like a fighting salaryman. But the thing is, the typical salaryman stereotype is Japanese, and Lou has definitely developed into a character who is Chinese. Even his name is supposed to be the anglicized version of Lu (like one of my favorite actors by the name of "Lu Feng", although Lu Feng is Taiwanese. Maybe Lou (the mii) is also Taiwanese).

This is Lu Feng. I dare you to talk to me about him.

Anyway, like the other Mii Fighters, he was put into Miitopia as part of Konin's team. On this miitopia file, my younger sister designed all of the miis' wigs and makeup to make them look nicer.

In between SSB and Miitopia, Lou's mii got kind of yassified. He also lost his glasses. But it is the look that has stuck!

He is a chef predominantly in his miitopia file. I have kind of continued with the idea that he enjoys cooking and office work in Tomodachi Life.

So here is Lou, resident of Tarufai Island.

Lou is #7 in Konin's Miitopia team.

Amai

This is Amai.

Amai is one of the 10 miis who was originally designed to be a Mii Fighter for Super Smash Bros Ultimate.

He was made to be a Mii Swordfighter. And like the other Mii Fighters, he was put into Miitopia as part of Konin's team.

On this miitopia file, my younger sister designed all of the miis' wigs and makeup to make them look nicer. In Miitopia, Amai was predominantly a Pop Star. His personality has always kind of eluded me, but I see him as someone who cares a lot about appearances while at the same time being down-to-earth enough to be cool. He's got kind of a "rich boy" thing going on with him. All of that has more or less carried into Tomodachi Life as well.

So here is Amai, resident of Tarufai Island.

Married to Kari.

Amai is #6 in Konin's Miitopia team.

Amai is also #5 in Trafford's Miitopia team.

Chibi

This is Chibi.

I'll be honest. He's just straight up a human version of Chibi-Robo.

And he was, like the Miis before him, designed to be a Mii Fighter for Super Smash Bros Ultimate.

I know for a fact that he had originally been designed to be a Mii Gunner, but at some point over the past few years I guess I switched him over to Mii Brawler instead. The outfit was probably the motivation. And like the other Mii Fighters, he was put into Miitopia as part of Konin's team.

On this miitopia file, my younger sister designed all of the miis' wigs and makeup to make them look nicer... But not for Chibi. She left him alone. It would have violated his character design to stray away from the simple features, so he was left untouched.

In Miitopia, Chibi was made as a flower. It's made him kind of weird as the years have gone on...

Like, on Tarufai Island, poor Chibi is always given all of the weird outfit pieces that I don't want any of the other miis to wear. I'm trying to 100% Tomodachi Island by purchasing (and gifting) every single item, but I am not a fan of some of the outfit pieces... and so they go to Chibi. He does fill a fun role of "robot" on the island, though. Since I'm trying to 100% the game, I do also want at least one mii with every quirk and at least one mii of every personality type. It has worked out! And Chibi, like I said, has very importantly taken up the task of being the island robot. That means he stands stiff and walks stiff, and he also gets a fun robot voice.

So here is Chibi, resident of Tarufai Island.

Chibi is #10 in Konin's Miitopia team.

Shizuka

This is Shizuka.

And he was, like the Miis before him, designed to be a Mii Fighter for Super Smash Bros Ultimate.

He was, of course, a Mii Swordfighter.

And like the other Mii Fighters, he was put into Miitopia as part of Konin's team.

On this miitopia file, my younger sister designed all of the miis' wigs and makeup to make them look nicer. And I really liked what she did for him on miitopia, the long hair especially. Ever since his adventure in Miitopia, his hair didn't stay as short as it was on SSB. His Tomodachi design is like the perfect between of his SSB and Miitopia looks.

I do think it's worth noting that on their miitopia adventure, there was a time when Tolya was missing for a while (it's part of the main story). And in that time, Konin and Shizuka were getting really close, to the point where I was considering turning Shizuka into Konin's canon partner. But, luckily for Tolya, that idea faded. I bring this up because a similar thing happened in the Ainsel miitopia file (Ainsel's team can be found lower down), where Ainsel's partner named Cassian was gone for a long time and Ainsel instead got really really close to his team member named Elsen.

I bring all of this up because, while Shizuka and Elsen both nearly swept away their leaders while the second in command was away on their miitopia adventures, on Tarufai Island things have gone down a little differently. Shizuka and Elsen found each other and are now married. So neither of them will be home wreckers anymore.

Not that Shizuka would ever do something like that willfully. I kind of think of him as like a samurai out of time (while not actually knowing much about samurai culture myself... sorry...). He's another stoic type, but he's actually borderline Spock-like. So he's also like Lan Zhan.

His kindred in personality.

He's pretty different from Elsen! I personally think that Elsen and Shizuka make a very good match.

So here is Shizuka, resident of Tarufai Island.

Married to Elsen.

Shizuka is #8 in Konin's Miitopia team.

Shizuka is also #4 in Trafford's Miitopia team.

Husa

This is Husa.

And he was, like the Miis before him, designed to be a Mii Fighter for Super Smash Bros Ultimate.

I remember wanting a Gunner who was, like... "chaotic"? I hate using that word. But my idea for him was like a gleeful pyromaniac and weapons expert. That has carried onto Tarufai Island, too. There are a few "mischievous" types on the island, and Husa is definitely one of them. He's probably tied for first as most mischievous, but he's definitely not meant to be malevolent. He's a team player, if a bit overzealous.

And like the other Mii Fighters, he was put into Miitopia as part of Konin's team.

I would have given him Tank as his main class if I hadn't given that to Konin already (I try not to have duplicate main classes on my files, even though each mii will master a minimum of four classes so overlap is inevitable). So I instead made him an Imp, which worked out. Because as far as personality was concerned in Konin's team, Husa fit that class the most. On this miitopia file, my younger sister designed all of the miis' wigs and makeup to make them look nicer.

Also, I want to mention the origin of his name. He's named after composer Karl Husa, who wrote the programmatic work "Music for Prague" in 1968. At the time that I was making miis for SSB, I was also a percussionist in my university's premiere orchestral ensemble. I was playing the xylophone part in the piece "Music for Prague IV. Toccata and Chorale", which is one of the hardest mallet parts I'd ever played. When I made Husa the mii, I decided that song would basically be his theme. High tension and needle point accruacy, and unpredictability.

On a side note, I think his Tomodachi Island look is his cutest one yet. I think the bangs suit him.

So here is Husa, resident of Tarufai Island.

Husa is #9 in Konin's Miitopia team.

Ainsel

This is Ainsel.

Ainsel is a very, very special mii. I'm very fond of him. He is the leader of the second miitopia file I ever made, so that's number two out of a dozen or so game files.

His conception came about at the end of Tiwa's miitopia file (again, my very very first miitopia file). Here are some spoilers for the end of miitopia: Once you defeat the final boss (a vengeful spirit who has been stealing faces because they don't have one of their own), they are gifted a face by the player at the end of the battle. You're put in the mii creator to design the bad guy's new face and body so they can start their new life and atone for all they've done. Since this was ny very first time playing the game, I did my best to create a mii I'd be proud of. I wanted him to be a sweet looking thing, that has a new life and a new adventure ahead of him, filled with kindness and goodness and friendship etc etc. And so Ainsel was created.

Here is his original mii on my 3DS screen.

He's one of the only miis I have that has not undergone any changes whatsoever in the years since his creation. It was a hole in one with him! A slam dunk! A home run! etc etc. I'm not into sports.

Anyway, after you design the face for the big bad in Miitopia, you're then in the postgame. But I was so enamored with Ainsel after I made him--oh! Let me explain his name really quick!

Ainsel essentially means "My Own Self", and it originates from Northumbria; a kingdom that spanned modern day Northern England and Souther Scotland between 654 and 1066 AD. Ainsel can also be spelled as "Me Aan Sel". Its most famously known for its use in old fairy tales, specifically as a tool of protection against fairies. For example, if a character is asked for their name by a fairy (or asked what they're called), the human could reply that they are "Ainsel/Me Aan Sel" (My Own Self) and thus would avoid giving the fairy their actual name. That way the fairy can't get any power over them, or, should the human defend themself against the fairy and hurt it, the fairy would have no way to tell anyone who had harmed it. "Who hurt you?" "It was 'My Own Self'!"

So when I made this new mii, with his new face and his new body after centuries as an unknown spirit, I decided to give him a name that encapsulated this newfound ownership of his life. Ainsel -- My Own Self.

Anyway. So I adored Ainsel as soon as I made him. And to prove my love for him, I decided the best next step would be to give him not only his own adventure, but also a harem of handsome men who were devoted to him.

So I then set out to design the nine other miis who would be accompanying Ainsel on his own incoming Miitopia adventure. I wanted them to be really handsome or whatever (as handsome as a mii can be), so to make sure I was happy with my choices, I designed thirteen male miis as potential members of his harem.

Top, from left to right: Ainsel, Cassian, Reed, Enoch, Ira. Bottom, from left to right: Hawk, Elsen, Zeke, Geralt, Alistar.

From left to right: Calhoun, Carmon, Ardem, Kasai.

Spoiler alert, but all of the miis pictured here have ended up on Tarufai Island, even if they weren't ultimately selected to be a part of Ainsel's Miitopia team. I decided a few months ago that the four that didn't join Ainsel still ought to have a Miitopia adventure (though on the switch rather than the DS), since I went to the trouble of designing them and everything.

And so, Ainsel and his harem began their Miitopia adventure on the 3DS!

Here he is! His main class was as a mage. And to be honest... I don't think I actually beat his game file on the 3DS. Last I checked, I think he was mere levels away from the very end of the game. To be honest, I may never finish it... It has been very convenient for me that they released a switch version of Miitopia. I might not go back. I have an easier time going between different gamefiles without having to switch out the SD cards in the system (as was the case on the 3DS). That being said, Ainsel will still see the end of the game! Only this time, it'll be on the Switch.

You might notice that he looks a little different... There's a reason for that...

The reason is that I like using a random number generator when I play video games sometimes. How could a random number generator be used in Miitopia? Well, I basically randomized the pieces of his wig and the colors on it, as well as some of the makeup on his face and his class type. Since I played his 3DS file straight, I wanted to have a bit of fun with randomization on Ainsel's switch file.

And to be honest, this wasn't the first time I'd played a Miitopia game with aspects of it dictated by a randomizer. I'll talk about him more when I get to his profile, but there's a resident by the name of Karl who also had a miitopia adventure on the 3DS. And for his team, I had it all totally randomized. (They looked kind of ugly to be honest, but if a design was too ugly, I scrapped it and would keep randomizing until I was happy. It took a long time to make Karl's team... and ever since they got moved to the switch, I adjusted their appearances a bit. You'll see them lower down if not on the island itself.)

Enough about Karl, though! We'll get to him in time. So anyway, on the randomized switch file, Ainsel's main color went from blue to pink (since his hair randomly became pink), and now those are his two main colors on Tarufai Island. Baby blue and baby pink, which is fitting for Ainsel because I think he's sooooo cute. It's kind of surprising to me that I've never drawn him, but I almost feel like I would struggle to do him justice. At least as far as how he looks in my mind. By the way, the next nine files will be showcasing who was ultimately selected to be Ainsel's team/Ainsel's harem.

So here is Ainsel, resident of Tarufai Island.

Married to Cassian.

Ainsel is the leader of his Miitopia team.

Ainsel is also #6 in Tii's Miitopia team.

Cassian

This is Cassian.

He was the first mii designed to be in Ainsel's harem. Since he was going to be the second in command on their Miitopia adventure, I knew that he was the one that was going to be closest with Ainsel. Even before their transfer onto the Switch, where Ainsel's color became pink, I knew that I liked Ainsel's blue with pink. And so Cassian (who was intended to be stoic and cool and what have you) was given pink as his main color. I figured it also showed that he had a caring side or something. Was in tune with his caring instincts... I don't know. I'm just having fun. But as the years have gone on, I've started seeing Cassian as especially soft spoken and gentle, while still thinking of him as one of the main powerhouses on Ainsel's team.

Top, from left to right: Ainsel, Cassian, Reed, Enoch, Ira. Bottom, from left to right: Hawk, Elsen, Zeke, Geralt, Alistar.

Again, here is his original mii on the 3DS next to Ainsel's. They were intended to be a pair from the beginning.

And here is his original Miitopia look! I made Cassian to be a Warrior class, since narratively I thought a knight-type character would do best as Ainsel's number one bodyguard/protector. It helps that the Warrior class in Miitopia even has an ability where they yell "I'll protect you!" and jump in front of another mii to protect them from incoming damage.

When their Miitopia adventure got transferred to the switch, Cassian got his look and class randomized in the same way Ainsel did.

To be honest, this wasn't Cassian's original look on this randomized file. I must have re-randomized his look about three times throuhgout their adventure before I finally settled on this one, sometime in the latter half of the game. I know his switch colors had been purple and brown and gold before landing on this nice phthalo green. I was happy when the randomizer gave him the same braid as Ainsel. Really makes them look like a pair.

I also want to bring up again the drama that happened on both Miitopia files between Cassian and Elsen. The drama is that there's a point in the story where Cassian is taken for a long time. And in that time, Ainsel and Elsen got really close. Each time, Elsen's relationship with Ainsel (which is quantified in game) nearly surpassed Cassian's. But! Cassian and Ainsel were literally made for each other--I would know since I made them--and even though Elsen and Ainsel have something special, it doesn't compare to what Ainsel and Cassian have.

Like, as of writing this, Cassian has been married to Ainsel for 120 days on Tarufai Island, and almost all of that has passed with both of them at "Soulmate" level.

And just like Ainsel, I've never drawn Cassian. Maybe I should draw them together some day.

So here is Cassian, resident of Tarufai Island.

Married to Ainsel.

Cassian is #2 in Ainsel's Miitopia team.

Reed

This is Reed.

He's another mii who was designed to be on Ainsel's team/harem. The original lineup can be seen below.

Top, from left to right: Ainsel, Cassian, Reed, Enoch, Ira. Bottom, from left to right: Hawk, Elsen, Zeke, Geralt, Alistar.

And this is really embarrassing, but...

He was designed after the fucking detective character in Detroit Become Human. At the time that I was making the original Ainsel file, I'd been playing through DBH and... I was shipping Connor and Hank... So he ended up as the fucking SECOND mii that I designed specifically for Ainsel. Sobbing emoji.

Here's Reed on the original DS file... And I'll be honest and real and true to myself and readily admit that I find older men attractive. And Ainsel would, too. So there.

Even despite his origins, I really do like Reed. I think he's a better person than that which he shares a design with (god it's so embarrassing) and I'm still happy that he was such an early addition to Ainsel's team. Not all of Ainsel's harem ended up joining the miitopia team in the order they were made, but Cassian, Reed, and Enoch were lucky to be in the starting four.

When their Miitopia adventure got transferred to the switch, Reed got his look and class randomized in the same way the rest of Ainsel's team did.

When I started randomizing wigs for Reed, it became pretty clear pretty quick that his beard wasn't working with most of what I was landing on. So his Switch Miitopia ended up looking really different (and clean shaven) compared to his base design. I think it's fun! He still has his same personality and everything (Stubborn) but his colors and his class are more playful. And he got to keep dark blue as his main color. (The miis and their colors matter a lot to me, every single mii has one or two colors that are theirs. This is true on Tarufai Island, as well.)

Speaking of Tarufai Island, since Ainsel and Cassian were each others' intended (like an arranged marriage situation except not), and polyamory isn't a thing in Nintendo, the rest of Ainsel's team didn't have anywhere to go romantically. That included Reed. But that was fun, too! Out of the miis on Tarufai Island, the only ones who had another mii "meant" for them were the leaders of Miitopia teams and their Number Twos. That left about eight people per team with open options! I've been letting them fall in love freely across the board.

And out of all of those options (there are 69 permanent residents on Tarufai Island), I'll say now that Reed did find someone... And got married! And it wasn't someone that I was expecting! But I'm glad he's found love, either way. He and Ira have been happily married for 75 days on Tarufai Island as of writing this. I find it interesting that he has married someone within Ainsel's team! When I play their miitopia file, I'll try to make their in-game relationship reflect that. As a side note, not all miis marry within their own Miitopia teams. Some have decided to branch out, like Shizuka and Elsen.

So here is Reed, resident of Tarufai Island.

Married to Ira.

Reed is #3 in Ainsel's Miitopia team.

Enoch

This is Enoch.

Like the two miis before him (Cassian and Reed), Enoch is stoic and cool and tough. Perfect candidate to keep Ainsel safe or whatever.

Here he is on the original Miitopia file. To be honest, I can't actually remember if Enoch's original class was as a thief... There's one other mii on Ainsel's team that also seems to have Thief as his starting class, but I try not to let miis share the same base class. Maybe I started Ainsel's file before I was as anal about that.

But, when their Miitopia adventure got transferred to the switch, Enoch got his look and class randomized in the same way the rest of Ainsel's team did. So it doesn't really matter for their Switch file, which is the main one I focus on for Ainsel's team nowadays.

And I guess I didn't give him a wig? That doesn't seem right... I'll probably have to go back onto that file and make sure I hadn't accidentally unequipped his wig. Which, it kind of looks like that's exactly what happened.

It's kind of a hassle to get screenshots off of the switch, and right now I care more about making all of these profiles than having a screenshot for every single thing. I'll update his Switch Miitopia screenshot later.

And, actually, I'm going to have to come back in here to update images and screenshots anyway because I realize that I don't have anything for Trafford's Miitopia team.

"But why would that matter? We're going over the miis on Ainsel's Miitopia team right now!"

So... As I've said before, I really like randomizing things. After I had established all of my main unique Miitopia files (Tiwa, Ainsel, Karl, Konin, Lesnia, Damion, Lobos, Tii), I decided I wanted yet another miitopia file... One where I would randomly draw from all of my miis across the different Miitopia games, and randomly select who would fill which roles. Trafford (who is #7 in Karl's Miitopia game) was randomly selected to be the leader of the file, and Enoch was randomly selected to be his number two. Since I like leaders of Miitopia teams to be involved with their number twos, Enoch and Trafford are now a romantic item.

And while this isn't necessarily the place for me to be talking about Trafford (he has his own profile down below), I will say that being paired with Trafford has made me like Enoch way more. With Ainsel, Enoch was mostly just a pretty face who was there to protect Ainsel--there is of course more to Enoch than that, even with Ainsel, but I just mean to say that his personality wasn't quite shining through in his original Miitopia lineup. With Trafford, I've inferred a lot more of Enoch's personality. He's sweet, like Cassian is, but also more... Hm... bright-eyed? Trafford is very different from Ainsel, like I might call Trafford mischievous and smug, and so Enoch is kept on his toes by Trafford in a way he never was with Ainsel. Enoch feels more quick-witted and engaged (and hopelessly in love with Trafford) than he did before.

I was also intrigued by how Enoch's and Trafford's relationship developed on Tarufai Island. Enoch got a crush on Trafford pretty early on, and then it took literal months for them to actually start dating. Trafford was just so aloof. (Which is honestly in character.) Luckily for Enoch, things have worked out and the two have been married for 16 days as of writing this.

So here is Enoch, resident of Tarufai Island.

Married to Trafford.

Enoch is #4 in Ainsel's Miitopia team.

Enoch is also #2 in Trafford's Miitopia team.

Ira

This is Ira.

Ira is an interesting guy, in my opinion. Definitely cool, easily seen as uncaring.

Here he is on the original Miitopia file. To be honest, he used to have black hair.

But, when their Miitopia adventure got transferred to the switch, Ira got his look and class randomized in the same way the rest of Ainsel's team did. His hair was randomized into fully white, which was REALLY exciting because the odds of that happening were so low. My method for randomizing their wigs was to first randomize the bangs, then the back of the hair, then the cowlick. Then I would randomize the main color, and then the sub-color. There are 100 color options for the bangs and hair--that means that out of 100, Ira landed on pure white BOTH TIMES for his bangs and hair. I was soooo excited. And because I was so excited, I ended up going back to his DS version and retroactively giving him white hair in there, too.

Here is his look that affected him across all versions. Also, when Ira got his class randomized on the switch, he went from being a Scientist to being an Imp. That actually helped some aspects of his character click into place for me. I realized that not only was he a cool, stoic, border-line cold guy, but there was also a bit of slyness to him. (For me the Imp class equals mischievous personality, and so depending on whether a mii has that as a main class or not, it can affect how I perceive their characters.) So now Ira is still a cool guy, but one who might tease lightly, and who is kind of coy in a way that would make it difficult to tell whether he was poking fun or not. Like Enoch, I like Ira more after the switch to the Switch (ha). I also feel like Ira seemed closer to Ainsel on the switch, so I became more invested in their relationship the second time around.

Speaking of relationships, Ira is already married on Tarufai Island. To Reed! In all honesty, their relationship kind of baffles me, but I'm happy to let them have each other. It is definitely a relationship between two tops/semes/givers/whatever.

So here is Ira, resident of Tarufai Island.

Married to Reed.

Ira is #5 in Ainsel's Miitopia team.

Hawk

This is Hawk.

Hawk is yet another mii whose personality has kind of eluded me, even though he's been around for so many years. The only thing I knew about him was that he was kind of quiet and he, like the rest of the Miitopia team, favored Ainsel. I do think it's worth noting that he's one of the only miis whose main color is yellow, despite the fact that yellow is my favorite color. I think he's one of, like... maybe four? So that alone does make him pretty special. Hawk is one of the few yellow miis.

Here he is on the original Miitopia file.

When their Miitopia adventure got transferred to the switch, Hawk got his look and class randomized in the same way the rest of Ainsel's team did. His look actually ended up staying pretty close to the original. Pure chance!

Here is Hawk on the Switch version of Miitopia. Only now he's a cute kitty cat.

Actually... Now that I'm looking at the different versions of Hawk, his Tarufai Island version included, I'm realizing that my grasp on his personality got more tenuous after his eyes changed in Tomodachi Life. So maybe I should change them back some day and see if that solidifies him more as a character...

By the way. He is also one of the only miis in a heterosexual relationship on Tarufai Island.

So here is Hawk, resident of Tarufai Island.

Married to Houtil.

Hawk is #6 in Ainsel's Miitopia team.

Elsen

This is Elsen.

Elsen has a pretty strong personality, in my opinion. In the original Ainsel Miitopia game, Elsen's main class was as an Imp.

Here he is on the original Miitopia file.

As I've stated before, when a mii favors the Imp class, that affects my perception of their personality. Namely, that I view them as more mischievous, more coy, more sly, etc etc. Elsen is no exception, especially with his explicitly Laid-back personality. However, the fact that he is part of Ainsel's harem suggests some interesting things about his character. Like the rest of the team, he canonically is supposed to care a lot for Ainsel, and sincerely. And I think he does! I had to double check what his official Miitopia personality was, because when I think of Elsen I think of how he treats Ainsel, and I almost convinced myself that his official personality was Kind. I think it's kind of fun for his character to be teasing and mysterious to most characters, and then genuinely sweet to Ainsel.

I think some of this perception is influenced by the drama previously mentioned in Shizuka's and Cassian's profiles. (TL;DR When Cassian went missing in the main Miitopia story, Elsen got really close to Ainsel in his absence, and it is still reflected in the friendship levels Ainsel has with them in the game. In Miitopia, how close two miis are is quantifiable, and Elsen has a large quantity of Ainsel's affection.)

Here is Elsen on the randomized Switch version of Miitopia. His main color on this file went from white to a kind of light green. And I'm realizing that on the Switch file, I changed his personality to Kind to better reflect how I had started to perceive his character. So there was a reason why I thought his official Miitopia was Kind! Because I changed it the second time around. LOL.

Anyway, on Tarufai Island, Elsen isn't as close to Ainsel as he tends to be on Miitopia adventures, and I blame this on the fact that I'm juggling 69 different miis on the island. I had Ainsel's and Cassian's relationship to worry about, so I neglected Ainsel's and Elsen's friendship. Nonetheless, Elsen is always one of my favorite miis to interact with. I like his personality and the fact that he is a very pretty boy (although 29 might be a little out of the age range of "boy"), and part of me almost thinks of him as a fallen angel type--except he really is kind.

So here is Elsen, resident of Tarufai Island.

Married to Shizuka.

Elsen is #7 in Ainsel's Miitopia team.

Carmon

This is Carmon.

You might notice, however, that Carmon isn't shown with the original lineup...

From left to right: Calhoun, Carmon, Ardem, Kasai.

And that's because he was one of the extra four. I made more than the nine miis I'd need for Ainsel's Miitopia team, just in case I ended up liking some designs more than others. And when it came time to choose the eighth member of Ainsel's team, that's exactly what happened. I decided I liked Carmon more than I liked Zeke.

And so here is Carmon on the original Miitopia file.

Carmon is probably the most inherently positive character on Ainsel's team. Not to say that Ainsel isn't positive, but Carmon is borderline happy-go-lucky. This is likely because of his Airhead nature. As stated before, I like to have at least one of all seven personality types in each of my Miitopia files, and so Carmon was to be the Airhead. (Not to say that he's a dummy or anything like that--I think he's quite clever. And he might even have some of that slyness that Elsen and Ira have, too.)

Here is Carmon on the randomized Switch version of Miitopia. I don't remember what his wig looks like, though... Next time I boot up that file, I'll have to check.

Carmon has had a pretty uneventful time on Tarufai Island so far. No sweethearts, no major drama. He just bounds through the island at his own pace.

So here is Carmon, resident of Tarufai Island.

Carmon is #8 in Ainsel's Miitopia team.

Geralt

This is Geralt.

I have come to really, really like Geralt. He is like if you had a high-end criminal that had a soft spot for Ainsel and his team. I don't know why, exactly, he's been deemed "criminal" in my brain, but I am positive that it has been influenced by his first Miitopia class being Tank.

Now, I know I've previously gone on and on about how usually the Imp class affects a mii's perceived personality into being something more mischievous. Tank is similar in how it influences a mii's perceived character, and yet very different. With Imp, I just end up seeing the mii as a little more mischievous because they look like a little devil, so assuming they have a slightly devilish nature is an easy jump.

With Tank, the class has actual in-game negative effects on the relationships between the mii who's a Tank and everyone else on the team. This is because some of the special fighting moves of the Tank class occasionally involve friendly fire. And of course, when a mii gets hit, they get mad at the Tank. So Geralt, with his contented smile and Energetic personality type (which makes me assume he's just gun-ho about battle), kind of comes off as a guy who's aware that sometimes the others are getting harmed by his efforts, but if it's for the sake of Ainsel and their cause, he doesn't care.

What intrigues me most about Geralt is despite his dismissive nature, he does still favor those on his Miitopia team (of course Ainsel especially) even if they get mad at him sometimes. I think Geralt is the kind of character that would get his hands dirty so that others wouldn't have to.

Here is Geralt on the randomized Switch version of Miitopia.

On Tarufai Island, Geralt has actually had a pretty interesting time... This is largely because Geralt got married. And then was divorced. Even more interesting is the fact that his ex is another member of Ainsel's Miitopia team--the last one, Number 10. Alistar.

Only recently have Geralt and Alistar become friends again on the island. Alistar has actually managed to get back out there and is remarried... Geralt, meanwhile, has not fallen in love again since divorcing Alistar. Such drama!! I'm curious to see if he will ever find another sweetheart, but I'm rooting for him! (Even though I keep giving him items and clothing that make him seem like a criminal.)

So here is Geralt, resident of Tarufai Island.

Geralt is #9 in Ainsel's Miitopia team.

Alistar

This is Alistar.

Alistar is another mii that I have come to like more as the years have passed. This is largely because his design has changed for the better as time has gone on. As can be seen in the image above, his first look was kind of lacking. I will blame most of this on the limitations of the mii creator on the 3DS--you couldn't have any interesting hair or eye colors. Once he got put into Miitopia, Alistar's look was improved drastically by the purple (at least in my opinion).

Even if I wasn't crazy about Alistar's initial design, one of the reasons I chose him over Zeke, Calhoun, Ardem, and Kasai was because of his cooler coloring. And his purple! Although Alistar and Kasai have virtually the same color schemes, Alistar was a little more stoic and cool, and I thought his appearance fit the Cautious personality better than Kasai's did.

Here is Alistar on the randomized Switch version of Miitopia.

Interestingly, Alistar was as lucky as Ira was on this randomized file, and managed to get bangs and hair that were the exact same color. Again, my method for randomizing their wigs on this file was to first randomize the style for the bangs, then the back of the hair, then the cowlick. Then I would randomize the main color, and then the sub-color. There are 100 color options for the bangs and hair--that means that out of 100, Alistar landed on the same gray BOTH TIMES for his bangs and hair.

And once Alistar got to Tarufai Island, I think his design has hit its all time best. I really like his new hair, I think it suits him and also softens his features just a bit.

On Tarufai Island, Alistar has actually had a pretty interesting time... This is partially because he and Geralt got married. And then were divorced. Even more interesting is the fact that his ex is another member of Ainsel's Miitopia team--the one right before Alistar, Number 9.

Only recently have Geralt and Alistar become friends again on the island. Alistar has actually managed to get back out there and is remarried! To one of the miis that didn't make the cut for the original Ainsel team, but ended up on a different Miitopia team years later; Ardem. All in all, things are looking up for Alistar.

So here is Alistar, resident of Tarufai Island.

Married to Ardem.

Alistar is #10 in Ainsel's Miitopia team.

Karl

This is Karl.

Ok. Everything going on with Karl is going to need some breaking down.

First of all, Karl was a one-off character that I drew sometime in high school/right after high school.

Disclaimer: I am not a furry. That being said, I have no problem with furries, and I thought it would be a nice drawing exercise to try my hand at designing a furry character. Not a fursona, just a character. And so this image is the genesis of Karl, my strange OC who gets a similar treatment as Konin. As in, I've drawn him, but haven't given him an actual story, and instead he gets used in videogames. At least Konin is lucky enough to have the bones of a story, Karl's got absolutely nothing. Just this one drawing and a name.

Well, as I've stated before, I really like randomizing things. After I beat Tiwa's miitopia game and sometime after I had started Ainsel's original file on the 3DS, I decided I wanted yet another Miitopia file. This time, one made up of miis who were completely randomized (this was years before the randomized Ainsel file on the Switch), and so I set out making ten new miis.

Even though I wanted a randomized team, I did still kind of want the leader to be someone I could have somewhat of an attachment to. I was going to be with the leader for the whole entire game, after all, which wasn't the case for the rest of the miis on the team. So for some reason, I decided to try to turn my one-off furry drawing of a dog-biker-man into a mii.

And so, here is Karl's original mii on the 3DS. I will note that as a dog, I pictured him as pure white. But on the DS mii maker, white wasn't a hair color option. So I just gave him brown. As soon as I put him into Miitopia on the 3DS, though, I was able to give him white hair.

...Unfortunately, I have no idea where that SD card is. So I can't get any screenshots of the orignial Karl Miitopia file right now.

All you need to know is that I made Karl and his team, each of whom had their features completely randomized, including their names. Those from Karl's team can be found in the nine mii profiles directly beneath Karl's here.

Anyway, when Miitopia was released on the Switch, I of course recreated Karl's team on there. However, since they had had to go through total randomization the first time around (and some were kind of ugly because of it), I decided to play their Switch file straight with their designs and try to polish them for their second adventure.

New scars included, as can be seen with Karl here.

I enjoyed Karl's team even more on their second Miitopia run, and I got a better idea of their characters all around. That being said, I always had a pretty good idea of what Karl was like. Bull-headed and reliable, snarky, and of course dog-like. Even though I've really only drawn him the one time, Karl has never been fully separated from that dog I drew over a decade ago. Deep down inside, he'll always have that dog in him.

So here is Karl, resident of Tarufai Island.

Married to Hamid.

Karl is the leader of his Miitopia team.

Karl is also #7 in Tii's Miitopia team.

Hamid

This is Hamid.

As I've stated before, I love to randomize things. And because I love randomization so much, I had a 3DS Miitopia file where each mii on the team (save for the leader) had all of their features totally randomized--including their name. Hamid was one of those miis.

You might notice that Hamid is an arabic name, and Hamid the mii is, like. One of the whitest miis I have. Sorry about that... I was not being very discerning when randomizing him about a decade ago, and just accepted whatever I landed on.

I was treating it the way SpongeBob treats that magic conch shell.

Your wish is my command, random number generator.

Unfortunately, I seem to have lost the SD card that had that randomized DS Miitopia save file on it, so I can't show you what Hamid's original mii looked like... Which is just as well, because his original mii was not great to look at.

When Miitopia was released on the Switch, I of course recreated Karl's team (the randomized team) on there. However, since they had had to go through total randomization the first time around (and some were kind of ugly because of it), I decided to play their Switch file straight with their designs and try to polish them for their second adventure.

So, while trying to stay true to Hamid's original design, I still did my best to make him a little more pleasing to look at the second time around.

Hamid's character is calm and cool, a nice foil to Karl's energetic personality. Like with all the other Miitopia second-in-command miis, Hamid is a romantically involved with his team's leader, Karl. This is true on Tarufai Island, as well.

So here is Hamid, resident of Tarufai Island.

Married to Karl.

Hamid is #2 in Karl's Miitopia team.

Yoel

This is Yoel.

As I've stated before, I love to randomize things. And because I love randomization so much, I had a 3DS Miitopia file where each mii on the team (save for the leader) had all of their features totally randomized--including their name. Yoel was one of those miis.

Unfortunately, I seem to have lost the SD card that had that randomized DS Miitopia save file on it, so I can't show you what Yoel's original mii looked like...

So, while trying to stay true to Yoel's original design, I still did my best to make him a little more pleasing to look at the second time around.

Yoel has actually become increasingly cute over the years. I think it's really interesting that he's Number Three on Karl's team, because his expression (rather, the facial pieces he randomly received) makes him look very worried and scared all of the time. He's very "kicked puppy". But because he's Number Three, that kind of puts him in a leadership position by my reckoning.

So I really like Yoel, I think he's reliable and not at all cowardly, and overall full of personality. (That's not sarcasm.) I think he's a character that likes to keep things on track, makes sure that the team is doing what it's supposed to and that everyone is safe.

(My interpretations of characters on Miitopia files probably make the game sound much more fraught and intense than it actually is. I just have an active imagination or some shit.)

On Tarufai Island, Yoel has been getting a kind of weird treatment... I give him cutesy items pretty often, like I would Ainsel or Tiwa or Trafford, but I also give Yoel the weirdo items. As I've said before, most of the clothing items that I can't take seriously I give to Chibi, but I also give a lot of the "discard" items to Yoel. So he tends to look kind of ridiculous a lot of the time...

Despite how I might treat him, I really do like Yoel. I think he's a nice little fella. Him and his stupid bowl cut.

So here is Yoel, resident of Tarufai Island.

Married to Domenico.

Yoel is #3 in Karl's Miitopia team.

Inti

This is Inti.

As I've stated before, I love to randomize things. And because I love randomization so much, I had a 3DS Miitopia file where each mii on the team (save for the leader) had all of their features totally randomized--including their name. Inti was one of those miis.

Unfortunately, I seem to have lost the SD card that had that randomized DS Miitopia save file on it, so I can't show you what Inti's original mii looked like...

But to be hoenst, he has hardly changed from his first iteration, if he has changed at all. The features that were randomly selected for this mii immediately reminded me of a character from an anime I was obsessed with when I was, like, 8 years old; Pretear.

And Inti, I decided, was going to look like the anime adaptation of the character named Kei.

This is Kei.

For some reason he only looks like this in the anime.

As a quick aside, this is what Kei looked like in the manga. COMPLETELY different, I have no idea why they changed his character design so much for the anime.

Either way, Inti resembles Kei of the anime. He even has some of Kei's character traits (noble, stoic, cool), but Inti is still very much his own character.

When Miitopia was released on the Switch, I of course recreated Karl's team (the randomized team) on there. However, since they had had to go through total randomization the first time around (and some were kind of ugly because of it), I decided to play their Switch file straight with their designs and try to polish them for their second adventure.

So, while trying to stay true to Inti's original design, I still did my best to make him a little more pleasing to look at the second time around. But again, Inti has not had very many appearance changes since his conception.

As much as I do like Inti, he's actually been pissing me off on Tarufai Island... Reason being that he was one of the first miis to get married on Tarufai Island, and his wife is Barbie.

Now, the miis can be heterosexual if they want (there are currently at least two other heterosexual married couples on the island), but the thing is... Barbie is not meant for Inti. And I don't say this because they're not good together or anything--there are even times when I think they're a really cute couple AND they have one of the strongest relationships on the whole island--but the thing is, Barbie is one of the few non-leader miis that has another mii that is basically intended for her. It's the same situation as with Asha and Kagura (whose profiles can be found above).

When I first started the island, before I realized that I really did want certain mii pairs to actually be wed to each other on the island, I was letting miis marry whoever they wanted. It wasn't long after Barbie and Inti got married that I was like, "Wait a second... This doesn't seem right. Barbie should really be with Monique!"

Pictured here are Barbie and Monique.

So I've been trying to get Barbie and Inti to divorce each other ever since. But they refuse. They have decided to have the happiest and most successful and longest lasting marriage on the island (not counting Ainsel and Cassian, of course. Those two are perpetually in Soulmate mode).

Anyway, right now, most of my regard for Inti is soiled by the fact that he's married to the wrong person and refuses to leave her. I think after they finally separate, I'll like him more. Right now he just makes me mad.

Divorce your wife, damn you!

So here is Inti, resident of Tarufai Island.

Married to Barbie (but not for long).

Inti is #4 in Karl's Miitopia team.
